Elliott's Great Big Carp (and aching arms) - Belfry Fishery - Nov 2014

Below is a picture of 8 year old Elliott Winterton sent in by his grandad Keith Dryden. Elliott landed this 19½lb Carp caught by him at Belfry Fishery, Hellingly near Hailsham. Elliot was using an 8lb line with a method feeder to a korum quickstop hair rig, with luncheon meat as bait. The fish put up a great fight which left young Elliott with aching arms (tho he doesn't look too concerned!).

Grandad Keith reckons Elliott's Great Big Carp is probably older than the young man himself...!

Tusker and Ginger's Return - Carp at the Belfry - 1st October 2014

Another report from Andy, hot off the press:

Not happy that his mate Andy Dicker (aka 'GINGER') didn't catch when the pair visited the Belfry last week, Tusker and Ginger returned, armed with plenty of Robin Red and Trout pellets from Anglers Den. The pair chose different pegs from last week, and settled in for their days fishing.

Ginger was the first to take with a good conditioned Mirror Carp weighing 5lb 2oz. Tusker roared 'That should stop you sulking' as Ginger slipped the Beauty back into the lake.

The pair went on to catch five fish a piece, both Mirror and Common Carp ranging from 3lb up to a controversial Mirror weighing in at 8lb - became controversial when Tusker yelled to Ginger 'My rod's just gone in!'

Ginger managed to hook his landing net under the reel to retrieve the rod, then promptly landed the said Mirror that had been hooked on it. 'Who's sulking now Tusk?'

Another good day was had by the pair who are already planning their next visit!.

Tusker's Day Out at the Belfry - 25th September 2014

Many thanks to Andy for the following account:

The long awaited return to fishing, after 3 years out due to ill health, found Ray Mead (aka TUSKER) in a swim on the banks of the Belfry, with his mate Andy.

The pair were soon wetting their lines, and within 5 minutes Tusk was calling Andy to man the net as Tusker was reeling in the first of four fish on the day.

A Mirror Carp weighing in at 9lb 6oz caught on one of Andy's vanilla boilies over a PVA net of Robin Red mini pellets as recommended by Anglers Den. As the day progressed, Tusk went on to catch 3 more Common Carp weighing 5lb 4oz, 5lb 2oz, and 3lb 8oz.

Tusk said Andy sulked most of the day, as he caught nothing but thoroughly enjoyed the venue and the day out.
